A Game-Theoretic Framework for Safety and Security

    Get PDF
The purpose of this paper is to describe the Framework described in [BG16] in a game theoretic way. The idea behind this is that for modelling security (i. e. the assumption of an intelligent attacker) the language of game theory seems to be a very good choice. Game theory can deal with the problem where the actions of each subject are interdependent, e.g. an attacker will change his strategy whenever a new security feature will prevent his old strategy from succeeding or a new attack seems to be more promising. Moreover, game theory has been thoroughly studied and hence changing the description language of the model, gives access to many results. Additionally, we view the Beyerer and Geisler Framework as part of security economics

    Higher Amalgamation and Finite Covers

Higher amalgamation is a model theoretic property. It was also studied under the name generalised independence theorem. This property is defined in stable, or more generally simple or rosy theories. In this thesis we study how higher amalgamation behaves under expansion by finite covers and algebraic covers. We first show that finite and algebraic covers are mild expansions, in the sense that they preserve many model theoretic properties and behave well when imaginaries are added to them. Then we show that in pregeometric theories higher amalgamation over ; implies higher amalgamation over parameters. We also show that in general this is not true. In fact, for any stable theory with an algebraic closed set which is not a model we construct a finite cover which fails 4-Amalgamation. With some additional assumption we can also preserve higher amalgamation over the empty set. We apply this result to abelian groups and show that (Z/4Z)ω satisfies these assumptions. Then we take the opposite direction: rather then investigating covers which have malicious properties towards amalgamation, we construct covers which will make higher amalgamation become true. First we give a new proof for the fact that there exists an algebraic cover of any stable Teq acleq(Ø) with higher amalgamation over Ø. A proof sketch of this was given by Hrushovski and a full proof appeared in an unpublished work by D. Evans. The new proof uses the notion of symmetric witness which was introduced by Goodrick, Kim and Kolesnikov. We also show with a similar approach that there exists an algebraic cover of any stable, omega-categorical theory with higher amalgamation over parameters

Optimal human labelling for anomaly detection in industrial inspection

    Get PDF
Anomaly detection with machine learning in industrial inspection systems for manufactured products relies on labelleddata. This rises the question how the labelling by humans should be conducted. We consider the case where we want to optimise the cost of the combined inspection process done by humans and an algorithm. This also influences the combined performance of the trained model as well as the knowledge of the performance of this model. We focus on so called one-class classification problem models which produce a continuous outlier score. We establish some cost model for human and machine combined inspection of samples. We then discuss in this cost model how to select two optimal boundaries of the outlier score where in between these two boundaries human inspection takes place. We also frame this established knowledge into an applicable algorithm

IT security and competition in the automotive industry A diffusion model Today’s automotive industry is changing rapidly. The slow movement toward electric mobility and highly technical assistant systems chal- lenge old hierarchies. Another innovation associated with the latter is that cars now receive regular software updates, just like smartphones. Tesla even claims to be able to upgrade their cars to fully autonomous driving in the future. This could lead to an unsustainable and risky development of IT security and the environmental performance of the vehicle sector

Investigation of the kinetic regularities of the reaction of dry reforming of methane using nickel-containing catalysts based on cerium-zirconium oxides

    Get PDF
In this study, we performed an investigation of the kinetics of the reaction of dry reforming of methane (DRM). For this work we used nickel-containing cerium-zirconium oxides. The catalysts were prepared in supercritical iso-propanol and characterized by means of XRD, TEM, XPS. It was found that the rate of DRM reaction becomes first order in methane and zero order in carbon dioxide. The dependences of the conversions of the reactants and product yields were obtained as a function of the contact time and the concentration of the initial mixture. In addition, the effective activation energy was calculated. It was shown that the most active and stable catalyst is 5wt% Ni/Ce0.5Zr0.5O[2]
